Have you ever heard about HYGGE ?✨ It is a Danish word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment says Wikipedia. Even though many people define it as candlelight, sweets, hot cocoa by the fire, and gathering with family and friends, you don't need all of them to feel it because it is more about the atmosphere and experience. The author of The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well quoted from Winnie the Pooh, I think I will do the same, because Winnie's definition for a certain emotion is just SO TRUE: You don't spell it, you feel it.💫
I believe life is beautiful and we all need to learn how to enjoy every moment of it. Of course, there are and will be ups and downs, but still, I think it is worth celebrating. That's why when I heard about the hygge lifestyle I fell in love immediately. Not being in a moment is, still one of my biggest challenges and sometimes I feel very upset about this. I focus on planning the future and thinking about what is next sooo much that I get lost and miss what is happening around me sometimes. And afterward, I always feel regretful. Call it Hygge, slow-living, being mindful, or whatever it can be, I have always wanted to adopt that and over years I believe I managed some 😌
When we moved to Qatar I thought I will never be able to catch this vibe here because of the climate here. Well, I was wrong - and I'm thankful for that! And also as I mentioned in my previous blog posts, we are living in accommodation which is fully furnished by our employer. So when we moved in nothing was reflecting our taste. Maybe that's why at the beginning we weren't feeling this place like a real home. But it has changed. A couple of pillows, a throw blanket, tenant friendly decorations, some candles, and plants changed the entire vibe. That ugly living room turned into our cozy comfortable sanctuary.
"TO PLANT A GARDEN IS TO BELIEVE IN TOMORROW."
I think I need to admit that I deserve to be called a crazy plant lady ! I love having plants in every corner - yes, including WC. 😅 I take care of them, I talk to them, and sometimes I hug them. They are great for clearing the air and reducing anxiety. The best way to decorate any room organically is simply adding some greenery 🍃
Can you say no to a furry, soft and cozy throw blanket ready to warm you on the couch? Because I can't! Regardless of the season, I always have one and it is not even enough. Either there is a fight for it or romantically we share it 🥰
There is no better feeling than a personal touch to the place that you live in. It is the thing that makes you feel welcomed, happy, and motivated the moment you enter. It is the reason for calling it HOME. At least that is what I believe. After unpacking, changing the locations of the furniture and cleaning, creating a list for DIY projects for our new home was the first thing we have done after moving. These little mirrors on the wall were our first project with Berk and we did a very good job 👏🏻
FA LA LA LA LAAA LA LA LA LA
If my inner voice stops judging me I would keep the Christmas tree all year long! There is no cozier feeling than this season! I can't stop myself singing and listening my favorite Christmas playlists on Spotify & Youtube. The best moment of the day is definitely the one when we turn the ceiling lights off and the tree lights on, light the candles and play some music along with a nice cup of tea! (We have a new winter tea recipe that we are addicted so bad, I will share soon with y'all.)
AND YOU ?
Are you ready to bring some extra coziness to your home? Since we all spend more time indoors more than usual, I think it is a very good idea to check what hygge is all about! Maybe we don't have a fireplace or as a family, we are not willing to consume too many sweets but we find our own ways to feel more comfortable, happy and cozy in our home. Tell me what you think in the comments! 💋
